St. Mary’s Pew Receipts

1861-1896

The Pew receipts span most of the time John and Catherine lived in Alexandria. There is some interesting information on the receipts beyond the rental payment. Some of the receipts have an address written on the side edge – I am taking this as the addresses of John, Catherine and family – this information has been helpful in trying to piece together the location of their homes over the years. The number of pew seats they rented varied over the years and it was usually pew 39.

The receipts were scanned in groups of three because they are mounted on album pages that way.
